#iMadethePledgeNK Against Bullying
About the Campaign
The North Kingstown Police Department & the International Brotherhood of Police Officers Union Local IBPO 473 are committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment for our young citizens.
In line with this commitment, we are launching an August Anti-Bullying Campaign, aimed at promoting kindness and inclusivity among children before they return to school.

Part of this campaign is to reinforce our commitment to ensuring that everyone, both children and adults, who report bullying will always be treated with the utmost respect and dignity. It is crucial that their voices are heard and valued, demonstrating that their concerns are taken seriously and that they are supported.

Anonymity will be maintained to protect their identity and privacy throughout the process.

“We’re excited to join the North Kingstown Police Department in supporting the #iMadethePledgeNK initiative and are grateful they’re bringing this program to our community. Bullying affects so many of our young people. Through mentorship and initiatives like this, we can support those impacted and create stronger relationships and a more positive community.” - Tina Santos, Senior Director, Big Brothers, Big Sisters
A key feature of this campaign is the "Pledge Against Bullying," where children will be encouraged to commit to being bullying-free and supportive of their peers.

1. I will treat others with kindness.

2. I will be accepting of people's differences.

3. I will help those who are left out.

4. I will stand up for others who have been hurt or harmed.

Upon making this important pledge, participants will receive a bracelet symbolizing their commitment.

"Supporting the #iMadethePledgeNK Against Bullying Campaign and the North Kingstown Police Department feels like a natural progression of work YPI has been doing for the past 30 years. We are looking forward to connecting with area youth and families looking to lead by example to wipeout violence and bigotry in their communities." - Rush Frasier, Executive Director, Youth Pride, Inc.

"Bullying is one of the most destructive experiences a person can face, affecting individuals from childhood to adulthood. Whether it occurs in school or later in life in the workplace, bullying can crush self-esteem and drain happiness, leaving victims feeling helpless. However, it doesn't have to be this way. By standing together and supporting anti-bullying initiatives, we can create a community where everyone feels safe and valued." Supreme Richardson, Executive Director of Operations, BLM RI & Joyce Jackson, Program Manager, BLM RI

Our local community businesses agree and many have stepped up to the cause and are extending a generous offer to those who make the pledge and will be offering a small incentive, such as a discount or special offer, to students K-12 who show their pledge bracelet at their place of business between August 25 through September 1, 2024.

"At KidCove, we fully support the North Kingstown Police Department for their dedication to promoting a safe and inclusive community. Together, we can create an environment where everyone feels valued and respected." - Stephanie Fraser, Owner, Kid Cove
